Barno Repeats as Men’s Grandma’s Champ, Kiptoo Wins Women’s
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Kenyan Elisha Barno has repeated as the men's champion at the 40th annual Grandma's Marathon in Duluth.
The 30-year-old finished first Saturday with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 11 minutes, 26 seconds. Fellow Kenyan Weldon Kiru finished second a minute later, at 2:12:26.
Last year, Barno won the 26.2-mile race from Two Harbors to Duluth at 2:09:45, edging course record holder Dominic Ondoro.
Women's course record holder Sarah Kiptoo of Kenya won her second Grandma's title with an unofficial time of 2:33:29. Kiptoo finished third at Grandma's in 2014 and 2015.
