Beer and Wine Sales Now Allowed at MN Bars and Restaurants
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota bars and restaurants can now include beer and wine in their take out menus.
Governor Tim Walz yesterday signed a bill that temporarily authorizes limited off-sale of the alcoholic beverages during the coronavirus pandemic. It was sent to his desk Friday afternoon after winning wide bipartisan support in both the Minnesota House and Senate.
“This is a small but important step to provide relief for the local restaurants that are struggling to keep their lights on during this pandemic,” said Governor Walz. “This will allow Minnesotans to continue to support their favorite local businesses. The restaurant industry is finding creative ways to keep Minnesotans fed and happy during this challenging time, and we’re going to help them out.”
The bars and restaurants are limited to selling a bottle of wine, or six-packs of beer, cider, or hard seltzer in their original and unopened containers. Cities not wishing to allow the sales can opt-out of the state law, which went into effect at 12:01 AM.
