Bicyclist Hit By Car In Rural Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It was a close call for a woman Thursday as she was riding her bicycle in rural Rochester.
The 30-year-old woman was hit by a car and thrown onto the hood and windshield.
But the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says the woman was wearing a helmet and “suffered just minor scrapes and bruises.”
Lt. Lee Rossman says the accident occurred at the intersection of 48th St and Hadley Valley Rd NE around 2:00 pm. Lee says the woman rode through the stop sign on Hadley Valley Rd and was turning onto 48th St when she was struck by the oncoming car that was driven by a 66-year-old Rochester man.
Rossman says it appears the car had been traveling at 55 mph before the driver hit the brakes and left skid marks nearly 170 feet long.
