One of the Republicans vying to challenge Governor Mark Dayton in November has chosen a rural Stewartville man as his running mate.

Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson announced Wednesday that former Rochester State Representative Bill Kuisle is his choice for Lieutenant Governor. Kuisle represented the Rochester area in the State House from 1996 through 2004.

Minnesota Republicans will be in endorsing a candidate for governor at the party’s state convention in Rochester, which opens on May 30th.

Meanwhile, a race has been set up for one of the three seats on the Olmsted County Board that will appear on the fall ballot. Ken Monsen of Chatfield filed Wednesday for the District 4 seat now held by Matt Flynn. Flynn, and the three other incumbent commissioners, filed for reelection on Tuesday.
