Man Dies After Being Struck by Train at Rochester Rail Crossing
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A man lost his life after he was hit by a train at a railroad crossing near downtown Rochester.

Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson says the deadly incident occurred around 10:45 Saturday night.
Witnesses told Rochester Police Officers the train’s engine had passed through the crossing and the victim was hit after he got too close to a passing box car.
The Rochester man was hit by the train car at the intersection of Civic Center Dr. and 1st Ave. Northwest. He was transported from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital where he died a short time later, Garyson said.
He was 23 years old and his name has not been released.
While officers were at the scene of the fatality, a vehicle drove through an area that had been blocked off as part of the train accident response then backed into the side of an apartment building at 400 1st Ave. Northwest.
Grayson said the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI. No injuries were reported following that collision. The name of the arrested driver has not been released.
