
Online Undercover Investigation Leads to Arrest of Byron Man for Soliciting a Minor for Sex
Police say investigators are still processing evidence and reviewing massive amounts of data collected as a result of the investigation.
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A multi-week undercover investigation into the online solicitation of minors has led to the arrest of a Byron man.

That’s according to a news release issued by the Rochester Police Department on Wednesday. Rochester police and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office worked together over the course of the investigation.

Byron, MN Man Arrest Following Online Minor Sex Solicitation Undercover Investigation
Police say 48-year-old William Pirkl was arrested in northeast Rochester on Tuesday afternoon.
He was booked into the Olmsted County Jail on suspicion of soliciting a child through electronic communication and two counts of electronically communicating sexual conduct with a child, police say.
Investigators served a search warrant at Pirkl’s home in the 11,000 block of 10th St. in rural southwestern Byron and found numerous pieces of evidence connected to the investigation, the news release says.
The case remains under investigation. Police say investigators are still processing evidence and reviewing massive amounts of data collected as a result of the investigation.
Pirkl’s first court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
