Charges: Bullet in the Chamber During Rochester, MN Gun Threats Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Charges filed Wednesday in Olmsted County court indicate police found a bullet in the chamber of the gun used to allegedly threaten a family in Rochester Monday.

The criminal complaint says Rochester Police responded to a home in 700 block of 9th Ave. Southeast on the report that 19-year-old Jahmaul Earthman of Rochester showed up at the residence unannounced and brandished a handgun. The gun call came in around 11:30 a.m.
The charges say a woman in her 60’s told police she and several family members were sitting on their back patio when Earthman’s younger brother came to the residence and asked if a child that Earthman’s girlfriend and the woman’s grandson had in common was at the home. The victims at the house said Earthman then emerged from behind a truck, pointed a gun at them and chased them into the house.
One of the victims ran into the home while holding the child, described as a baby, the charges say. The victims said Earthman had threatened to kill the father of his girlfriend's child.
Earthman left the area and was apprehended by police at a nearby home. Court documents say he appeared to have been “heavily under the influence,” and made a gun gesture with his hands while telling police he told someone to watch their mouth.
Officers executed a search warrant at the home and found a gun that matched a description given by the victims. It had a bullet in the chamber when officers seized the firearm, the complaint says.
Earthman was arraigned Wednesday on four felony counts of second-degree assault. His bail was set at $300,000 without conditions.
The new charges come as Earthman is awaiting trail for an alleged assault of a Rochester police officer last summer. Earthman is also set to go to trial for a felony drug possession case he was charged in after a search of his residence related to a May 2022 shooting investigation led to the discovery of 19 MDA pills and 50 M30 oxycodone pills, according to court records.
Earthman posted a non-cash bond in the officer assault case last July but was arrested on a warrant in August after failing to appear at a hearing. He was then released without bail but with conditions after being apprehended on the warrant. Olmsted County Adult Detention Center records indicate Earthman remains in custody.
His next court appearance in the gun threat case is set for June 27.
