Charges – Rochester Police Intercept 2 Pound Shipment of Meth
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Acting on a tip, Rochester Police arrested a man and intercepted a large shipment of methamphetamine last week.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court, a Rochester police officer received a credible tip last Thursday afternoon that a Rochester man was picking up a large quantity of cocaine from a residence in Rochester. The court document indicated the officer received the video showing 24-year-old Rodolfo Resendiz Garcia picking up a United States Postal Service box and was advised that Garcia had indicated the package contained cocaine.

The charges against Garcia say the tip also included information about a car that was transporting the man. Rochester police were able to stop the vehicle along West Circle Drive near the intersection with 16th Street Southwest and found Garcia in the passenger seat. The box depicted in the video was found behind the driver seat and had a return shipping address in Little Rock, California.
The criminal complaint states that two tightly sealed bundles surrounded by spray foam insulation were found in the box. An inspection of the contents determined the two bundles contained suspected methamphetamine. After most of the foam insulation was removed, the bundles and remaining packaging weighed about 2.3 pounds. It also states that the contents of both bundles tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
Garcia has been charged with first-degree drug sales and first-degree drug possession.
Court records show that Garcia was formally arraigned on the charges on Friday. He was released without bail pending his next court appearance in March.
