ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — St. Paul police say a motorcyclist has died after fleeing from an officer who tried to stop him and crashing his bike.

Authorities say an officer on patrol saw the man recklessly driving the motorcycle about 2 a.m. Monday. The officer activated his emergency lights and tried to stop the motorcycle driver, who sped away.

Police say the officer decided against chasing the bike in a residential neighborhood and lost sight of it. Other squads responded and helped search for the driver.

They found the driver had crashed the motorcycle and died at the scene.
