Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has entered into a plea agreement to resolve two felony drug cases, including one that involved a trip to the emergency room after he tried to hide a baggie of cocaine from detention deputies in the Olmsted County Jail by attempting to eat it.

According to Olmsted County court documents, 31-year-old Kadar Abdulkadir Abdullahi was arrested in the late afternoon of January 21 after a Rochester Police Officer, who was aware that his drivers license had been suspended, observed him driving a vehicle. The officer was also informed that Abdullahi was wanted on a probable cause warrant for first-degree drug sales.

The criminal complaint indicated that the arresting officer located a large amount of cash, marijuana, and a rolled up dollar bill that tested positive for cocaine in his possession. It also stated that, after his arrival at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center, Abdullahi refused to complete a full body search.

The court document says he was then moved into a room, where he was accused of removing a baggie of cocaine from his genital area and placing it in his mouth. Abdullahi then began convulsing and stopped responding to questions. At that point, he was transported to a hospital, where a baggie containing about 18 grams of cocaine was removed from his mouth.

He was charged with a felony count of third-degree drug possession and a gross misdemeanor charge of introducing contraband into the jail.

The second criminal complaint against Abdullahi stemmed from a Rochester police narcotics investigation that was conducted last August. It says a confidential reliable informant arranged to meet with him and was able to purchase more than 40 fentanyl pills.

That led to a criminal complaint charging Abdullahi with first-degree drug sales. Under the terms of his plea agreement, that charge and the gross misdemeanor count of introducing contraband to the jail were dropped in exchange for the guilty plea to the third-degree drug possession charge.

Court records show Abdullahi requested an executed sentence and was ordered to prison for 52 months. He was given credit for 76 days he has already spent in jail.

This will be his second trip to prison for a drug conviction. Court documents say Abdullahi was convicted of a second-degree drug sales charge in Hennepin County in 2023 and was sentenced to 75 months in prison. He was under supervised release when he was arrested by Rochester police in January.
