Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - One of the men convicted for his involvement in a shooting last year in Rochester has been ordered to prison.

Court records indicate 34-year-old Scott Tashaun Bunch and 30-year-old Alonzo Darnell Kelly were arrested after Rochester police responded to reports of an active shooting in the vicinity of the Homestead Village and Falcon Landing Apartments in the early evening of September 10, 2024. According to the criminal complaint, it was alleged that Bunch and Kelly fired shots at each other.

No one was injured by the gunfire, but investigators found that one of the apartment buildings and the vehicle were struck by bullets.

Bunch had his case decided by an Olmsted County judge and was found guilty of felony counts of second-degree assault, illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted for a crime of violence, and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Bunch was sentenced Monday afternoon to five years in prison. He was given credit for 209 days that he has spent in jail.

Kelly, who is also from Rochester, was earlier given a one-year stayed prison sentence and was placed on probation for two years for his involvement in the shooting. He faced the same charges as Bunch, but entered into a guilty plea and admitted to the felony charge of reckless discharge of a firearm.

Kelly was also placed on probation for five years for his conviction on a count of felony threats of violence. Court records indicate he entered a guilty plea to the charge in exchange for the dismissal of a felony assault charge in connection with an incident at a southeast Rochester restaurant in March 2023.

In that case, Kelly was accused of engaging a female employee in a verbal altercation at the drive-thru window before he entered the business and made threatening statements toward her while holding a baseball bat.
