Copper Thieves Hit Occupied Rochester Building

A Rochester man was arrested over the weekend after being caught trying to steal water pipes from an apartment building

that is targeted for demolition - and is still occupied.  Police say a tenant at the complex  in the 400 block of 8 ½ avenue northwest discovered she had lost water service  around 7:30 Saturday morning.  The woman went to the utility room to see what the problem was and found it - a man had turned off the water and was in the process of removing the copper pipes.  The man fled on foot. Another man who was with him was caught a short distance away. He told officers he was high on drugs.   Police are looking for the man who was spotted in the laundry room and they’re pretty sure they know who it is.  Police found his photo ID in a vehicle the two men had left parked in the driveway.
