COVID-19: Active Cases in Olmsted County Hit New High
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The overall number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Olmsted County has risen above 1300 and there are currently 170 known active cases in the county.
That is believed to be the highest number of active cases locally since the beginning of the pandemic. Over 330 COVID-19 tests were completed yesterday at the Graham Park Collaborative testing site and identified 26 new cases of the infection. Statewide, almost 12,000 tests were completed on Sunday and detected 499 new coronavirus cases.
The Minnesota Department of Health today reported only two COVID-19 deaths throughout the state. That is the lowest single-day total since April 13th when the health department did not report any coronavirus related deaths in Minnesota.
The number of people hospitalized because of COVID-19 has been fairly stable during the past week but there has been a drop in the number of ICU beds used by coronavirus patients. 247 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 and 114 are being treated in intensive care units.
