Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - For the first time in many weeks, Olmsted County Public Health is reporting the number of known COVID-19 cases in the county has dropped below 100.

The active case count today is at 91 after Olmsted County reported 11 new cases of the infection for a positivity rate of 3.2-percent. Over the past week, the positivity rate has averaged 2.7-percent.

Across Minnesota, the number of coronavirus related deaths dropped back into the single digits after a spike yesterday when 17 deaths were reported. The tally today was seven, including a person in their 40s in Ramsey County.

Just under 700 new COVID-19 infections were detected by the approximately 13,800 tests that were completed on Wednesday. That pushed the statewide positivity rate up to just under 5.1-percent. It’s the first time in over a week the rate has been above five-percent in Minnesota.

The number of people hospitalized in Minnesota due to COVID 19 fell from 321 yesterday to 309 today. 148 of the patients required intensive care treatment, which was down four from Wednesday's report.
