Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota's largest private employer has made a public statement expressing support of the "Stay at Home" order issued by Governor Tim Walz this afternoon.

The Mayo Clinic indicated it supports Minnesota's order aimed at slowing the spread of the new coronavirus, Wisconsin's "Safer at Home" order, and other similar orders and other states and communities throughout the United States if they are issued with appropriate exceptions. Mayo's response notes patients are still allowed to travel to seek care in states where the emergency orders are in effect.

Mayo says it will continue to follow the protocols put in place to keep staff, patients, and communities safe at all of its locations. Mayo previously announced it was postponing all elective care, while urgent and emergency care will continue.

Mayo Clinic is well-prepared and ready to treat patients with COVID-19 across the organization, while at the same time actively helping the world respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic. As we do this, we will openly share our expertise and point of view with others and make all decisions in a way that aligns with our core mission of putting patient needs first.

The "Stay at Home" order issued today by Governor Walz takes effect at midnight Friday night.
