Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The ongoing surge of COVID-19 hospitalizations in Minnesota has prompted the Mayo Clinic Health System to temporarily close some of its clinics.

A news release says operations at the Mayo Clinic Health System clinics at Mankato-Northridge, Le Sueur, Janesville, Waterville, and Belle Plaine are being temporarily suspended to free up staff to respond to the rising number of people being hospitalized because of COVID-19. The Belle Plaine closure began today, while the other clinics will be suspending operations starting next Monday.

The closures are expected to last about six weeks. Mayo Clinic officials say patients who normally visit the affected clinics can seek care at other Mayo Clinic Health System sites and virtual video visits with healthcare providers.
