Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester is joining other communities around Minnesota in recognizing the Class of 2020.

Rochester Public Schools has decided to begin lighting its three high school football stadiums to honor the seniors whose final weeks of their final year have been turned upside down by the coronavirus crisis.

RPS says it will join the “#BeTheLightMN” campaign that has been adopted by dozens of districts around the state. RPS will light the stadiums for 20 minutes on Mondays at 8:20 PM.

Here is the message from RPS:

“Rochester Public Schools is sending well wishes to all of our staff, students and especially our senior class of 2020. To our seniors, you have come so far and accomplished so many great things for our school district and community. We are thinking of all of you during this difficult time so please be safe and stay healthy from afar.

We ask that students, staff, and parents do not congregate at the high schools but rather watch from afar while maintaining social distancing guidelines. Each Monday, this light of hope will take place at 8:20 pm (20:20 military time) for 20 minutes.”
