St Paul (KROC AM News) - For a fifth straight day, the Minnesota Dept. of Health is reporting daily COVID-19 tests of 10,000 or more.

The number of tests has risen to more than 354,000.

The latest tests found 338 new positive cases, raising the state total to 28,200. The Monday report confirms 11 more COVID-19 deaths. That increases the death toll to nearly 1200 with 955 involving residents of long-term care and/or assisted living facilities. 

The daily report also shows another person in their 20s has died from the disease. The person lived in Hennepin County. Only one other person that young has died from the disease in Minnesota. The victim was a Ramsey County resident whose death was reported Saturday. Also among the most recent victims was the chairwoman of the St. Paul Board of Education who contracted the virus last month. Marny Xiong was 31-years-old with no known underlying health conditions.

Three months since the first positive COVID-19 case was confirmed in Minnesota, there are two counties that still haven’t reported one - Cook and  Lake of the Woods. Kittson, Lake and Stevens counties have each reported just one case. A total of 20 of the state’s 87 counties have reported 10 or fewer cases since the pandemic began. Houston County has the lowest number of confirmed cases in southeast Minnesota with four.
