St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A resident of southeastern Minnesota is among the most recent victims of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Minnesota Department of Health today reported 5 more state residents have died from COVID-19. One of those who died was a 76-year-old resident of Winona County. It was also noted the Winona County patient and a 92-year-old Hennepin County resident became ill while they were residing in congregate living settings.

Minnesota has now experienced 17 coronavirus deaths since the start of the pandemic. The state reported 60 new confirmed COVID-19 cases today, including 8 in Olmsted County. The statewide total is up to 679 and Olmsted County has reported 61 cases.

The number of people hospitalized and in intensive care due to the new viral illness has remained fairly steady in recent days. The total number of people currently hospitalized was down slightly today at 54 and the total number in ICU rose by one and now stands at 27.

324 people have recovered to the degree they no longer need to be isolated.
