Data Breach Hits Rochester, Minnesota Honkers Fans
Tons of people attended Honkers baseball games in Rochester, Minnesota this summer. I got to experience the Sports Deck for the first time this year, which was super fun!
But if you attended a Honkers game, there's a chance that you were affected by a data breach.
Here's what we know.

Rochester, MN Honkers Hit by Data Breach
This data breach was discovered on July 17th, 2024. Minnesota Now writes that it "exposed sensitive customer data, including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and credit card numbers."
I was affected pretty early on, it seems, because in early August someone tried to purchase a pickleball paddle for over $200 and something on Etsy for over $400. A co-worker of mine also was affected by the breach but he wasn't hit until the end of August.
So whoever got ahold of this information may still be slowly trying to use people's information.
What to Do if Your Information May Have Been Stolen
If you purchased Honkers tickets, or any tickets through the Northwoods League (the league that the Honkers are a part of as well as many other baseball and softball teams), you may have been affected.
Yes, this breach not only affected Honkers fans but also fans across the Midwest and into Canada.
Northwoods League sent out a letter in the mail alerting all fans to this data breach, explaining that they are taking action, and also giving suggestions as to what you can do next.
They say you can place fraud alerts with the major credit bureaus Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. You also should check your bank account and statements regularly to check for any strange and unauthorized purchases.
If you were affected by the data breach, Northwoods League also suggests getting a free credit report. You can also place a security freeze on your credit files so no one else can open new accounts in your name.
