VIRGINIA, Minn. (AP) — A woman is dead and two other people injured after a house fire on northern Minnesota's Iron Range.

The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday in the city of Virginia.

Virginia Fire Chief Allen Lewis says the body of a woman was found in a bedroom on the second floor. Two other people were brought to Essentia Health-Virginia with burns.

Lewis says the home had smoke detectors, but that residents who escaped said they did not hear any detectors nor did arriving firefighters.

The name of the woman who died is not being released until family members are notified.

WDIO-TV reports firefighters from several departments helped fight the blaze.

The Virginia Fire Department and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause.
