The DMC Corporation Board approved a resolution to request a modification to the boundary during their May 22 meeting.
City documents indicate the request is to facilitate construction of infrastructure needed for the Link Bus Rapid Transit Line.

The Link Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line is a 2.8 mile route that will provide transportation at no cost to riders seeking Mayo Clinic facilities and other stops downtown Rochester.
It will run from the soon-to-be constructed West Transit Village near the Rochester Country Club to an area on 6th St. Southeast that will be adjacent to the future Downtown Waterfront Southeast area.
Rochester Public Transit will operate the system, which will involve 60-foot electric buses making seven stops along the route. Work on building the infrastructure for the bus line is scheduled to start this year.

The agenda item says DMC is requesting to expand its district in two areas.
One area is land adjacent to the future West Transit Village. The request states adding the land to the district will “allow for public infrastructure improvements necessary to support the development of the West Transit Village.”
The other area proposed to be folded into the DMC district is the City of Rochester’s Public Works Transit Operation Center in the area of East River Rd. and 44th St. Northeast.
That will allow for construction of a maintenance facility for the BRT buses, the agenda item states.
DMC is required to hold a public hearing if the Rochester City Council approves the modification. The hearing date has been set for September 25, 2025.
