Driver of Snowmobile That Struck Minnesota Boy Facing Charges
CHISAGO CITY, Minn. (AP) _ Authorities say charges have been filed against a snowmobile driver accused of being intoxicated when he ran into an 8-year-old boy and his father on Chisago Lake.
The Chisago County Sheriff's Office says 45-year-old Eric Coleman, of Chisago City, is charged with criminal vehicular operation and drunken driving. Authorities say the incident happened just before 8 p.m. Friday when Coleman's snowmobile clipped the family's pickup truck with the boy in the back and then struck the boy's father, who was setting up a portable icehouse.
Officials say 8-year-old Alan Geisenkoetter Jr. suffered a severe head injury, two broken legs and other injuries. He is listed in critical condition at a metropolitan hospital. His father, 43-year-old Alan Geisenkoetter Sr., and Coleman were also injured.
