Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police in Minneapolis say a two-vehicle crash involving a stolen vehicle claimed the life of a motorist Tuesday evening.

A statement from the Minneapolis Police Department says officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Washington Ave. and 22nd Ave. in North Minneapolis. The fatal crash was reported around 7:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found one of the drivers, described as a man in his 40’s, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Police say the vehicle the fatal crash victim was driving was struck at the intersection by a Hyundai that was reported stolen. An adult female passenger in the stolen vehicle was also brought from the crash scene to a hospital for treatment of what are described as non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police say the driver of the stolen vehicle fled the crash scene before officers arrived. So far no arrests have been made.

The names of the driver killed in the crash, the passenger in the stolen vehicle and the motorist who is suspected of fleeing the fatal crash scene have not been released.
