Elderly Rochester Man Jailed For Child Pornography Conviction
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An elderly Rochester man was sentenced this afternoon for a child pornography conviction.
75-year-old Jack Richard Landon was charged a year ago with six felony counts of possession of child pornography depicting minors under the age of 14. The criminal complaint in the case says the charges stemmed from a Rochester police investigation that was launched in June of last year due to a tip involving suspected child sexual abuse material connected to a Microsoft account that was traced to a residence in northwest Rochester.
The court document says investigators executed a search warrant at Landon's home about a month later and that led to the seizure of multiple computer hard drives. The charges stated that the devices contained several thousand files containing child sexual abuse materials that included the depiction of children as young as one year old.
Landon earlier entered guilty pleas to two counts of child pornography possession in exchange for the dismissal of the four other charges.
He was sentenced today to 60 days in the Olmsted County jail and five years on probation. He has also been ordered to successfully complete sex offender treatment and register as a predatory offender.
