Exchange of Gunfire Involving State Trooper Shuts Down MN Freeway
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A section of a busy Twin Cities freeway was closed overnight due to what the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has described as a "use of force" incident involving the State Patrol.
A brief statement from the State Patrol indicates the incident occurred around 10:15 PM on Saturday on southbound I-94 at Dowling Avenue in Minneapolis. The BCA reported the investigation forced the closure of the southbound lanes of the freeway between the Dowling Avenue and West Broadway interchanges until around 11 AM Sunday.
Very little information has been released by authorities, but the MN Crime website is reporting that State Troopers exchanged gunfire with a suspect who was later taken into custody. The reports state the officer involved shooting occurred after the suspect was seen shooting a gun at another vehicle on the interstate.
No injuries were reported.
