Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- A young man lost his life in a trench collapse southwest of Rochester over the weekend.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Parkin said deputies responded to the fatal incident around 5:15 Sunday afternoon. 

Stewartville Fire, Stewartville First Responders, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Mayo One helicopter, and the Rochester Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Man in His 20's Dies in Trench Mishap in Rural Area Southwest of Rochester

Preliminary information indicated a man was in the trench in the 6000 block of County Road 108 SW, which is about four miles west of Stewartville, when it collapsed. 

First responders eventually recovered the victim from the trench. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said. 

Parkin said the man was in his 20s. His name has not been released.
