FBI Warns Minnesota Gmail and Outlook Users About Major Threat
It's never a good sign when the FBI gets involved. The FBI just issued a big warning to those with Gmail and Outlook accounts in Minnesota.
This is disturbing because most of us, if not close to all of us, use email for one reason or another, whether for work or personal correspondence.
In many cases, we use it for both and have multiple email addresses. If this applies to you, you will definitely want to make note of this.
Just days ago, the FBI and a handful of other organizations issued a cybersecurity advisory about a type of ransomware known as Medusa.

What Is Medusa?
Medusa uses all-too-common phishing techniques in an effort to gain access to all of your personal information. Oftentimes, ransomware is used as a way to extort you. In other words, you will get your information back for a cost.

Other times, these hackers and scammers use your information to steal your identity, your banking information and just about anything else you can think of, which is horrifying.
According to one report, more than 300 victims have been targeted by this group using Medusa software. While this group has been on the prowl since 2021, they have stepped up, meaning they are targeting more victims.

The FBI, along with the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center, say you should make sure all of your operating systems and software are up to date.
This is so scary! This is just another reason you shouldn't click anything or any email unless you are incredibly certain you know it isn't a scam.
