Pine Island Firefighters Extinguish Brush Fire That Spread to Oronoco Home

The fire call came from a home in the 12000 block of Cedar Lane NW.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin said the homeowner reported flames seen outside of his home and suspected they had spread from a nearby brush fire.

Dispatchers informed first responders that the resident was using a garden hose to slow the spreading fire, officials said.

The Pine Island Fire Department says responding crews found fire damaging the front exterior of the house. Crews sprayed water to cool the home and removed burned debris away from the structure.

One crew entered the home and reported interior smoke damage, prompting firefighters to ventilate the residence. The fire did not penetrate the home, according to the Pine Island Fire Department.

No injuries were reported and Parkin said the resident was able to stay in his home.

The Pine Island Fire Department estimates the fire caused $40,000 in damages.
