Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - An investigation by the Rochester Police Department has resulted in a 7-year prison sentence for a former federal law enforcement officer.

Federal Prison Sentence For Former Federal Agent

U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Daniel N. Rosen today announced that 53-year-old Timothy Ryan Gregg has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for the production of child pornography. According to Rosen, the Eagan man coerced and enticed a child to "take part in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography."

Rochester Police Investigation Leads to Federal Sentence

At the time of his arrest in June of last year, Gregg was employed as a special agent with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and served as an FBI Task Force Officer. The investigation by the R ochester Police Department began after the juvenile victim's father discovered multiple sexually explicit images and videos on the child's cell phone.

Production of Child Pornography

Federal prosecutors say the images and videos depicted the child and an older individual engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Court records indicate investigators later identified the adult in the materials as Gregg.

"Protecting children and vulnerable members of our Rochester community is among our highest priorities," said Rochester Police Department Chief Jim Franklin. "The Rochester Police Department takes these crimes extremely seriously, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to dedicating the resources necessary to identify, investigate, and hold accountable those who prey upon the most vulnerable. This case also demonstrates the critical importance of strong partnerships with our federal law enforcement partners and the U.S. Attorney's Office. We are grateful for their vigilance, professionalism, and shared commitment to protecting our community and ensuring justice is served."

The news release announcing his sentencing says the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations also assisted in gathering the evidence that led to Gregg's prosecution.
