Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley have made the decision to close temporarily in response to COVID-19. The closure goes into effect at 4:00 pm on Monday, March 16 and will remain in effect for at least 14 days.

In a statement provided to media (via KBJR 6) Joe Nayquonabe, CEO of Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures (owner of both casino locations), said:

“We developed a cross-functional COVID-19 preparedness team that meets regularly. The team has evaluated preparedness and increased measures to protect our associates, guests and communities. Since Governor Walz’s announcement, we have reflected on the leadership that businesses like ours must demonstrate during a time like this and decided to temporarily close our casino operations in order to keep that protection in place."

During the closure, both hourly and salaried employees will be paid.
