Guilty Plea Connected to Deadly Motorcycle Crash
Preston, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Illinois man entered into a plea agreement today in a criminal case stemming from a fatal traffic crash in Fillmore County two years ago.
66-year-old Thomas Rodts entered an Alford plea to a gross misdemeanor criminal vehicular homicide charge, while six other misdemeanor charges were dismissed. The plea means Rodts does not admit guilt, but acknowledges there is enough evidence for a conviction.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Rodts was driving a pickup truck when he turned in front of a motorcycle on a rural road on July 29, 2014 and caused the collision that claimed the life of 61-year-old Robert Patrillo of Lanesboro.
Rodts is scheduled to be sentenced November 14th.
