Hundreds of Students Dismissed Early After Fire Breaks Out at Southeast Minnesota High School
Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News)- A fire prompted the evacuation and early dismissal of a southeast Minnesota high school on Monday.

The Hastings School District described the fire as small and said the blaze activated the school’s sprinkler system.
School officials announced the fire and subsequent early dismissal shortly before 12:30 Monday afternoon.

Students were immediately dismissed and those with an ability to drive were allowed to depart the school grounds.
Those unable to get transportation to leave the school were offered spots on school buses to keep warm.
Students who remained at the school after the dismissal were also given bag lunches, officials say. The district's buses maintained their normal afternoon routes.
No injuries were reported. Additional information regarding the fire has not been released.
The Hastings High School includes grades 9-12 and has an enrollment of about 1,224 students, according to the Minnesota State High School League.
