The news we all want to hear...we have more road construction starting in Rochester!  Some new signs were put up earlier this week and rumor is, some delays are expected in Rochester starting on Monday, August 27th (the first day of school in Rochester...fyi).

I'll say it again, someone needs to update Google Maps for the visitors that are in our town because it must be so confusing.  I actually tried to get around downtown Rochester using the help of Google Maps the other day and roads that are currently closed were said to be open.  I even made a video that you can watch (click here).

On a positive side, we will get through this construction season and it will all be a memory soon.  Take a second and know the info below, pay attention, put those phones away, and let's help keep everyone safe in all of the construction zones going on in Rochester.

Here are the details to know about the new orange cones that will be showing up on Monday, August 27th (according to the City of Rochester website):

As part of the City of Rochester’s ongoing pavement preservation program, Allied Blacktop, Inc. will be chip sealing Broadway Avenue between 9th Street South to 12th Street South and between 14th Street North and 37th Street NE. This work is set to begin on Monday, August 27, 2018, weather permitting. Chip sealing and fogging is anticipated to be completed by September 7, 2018. Lane striping is expected to be completed by September 14, 2018.

Please give the crews ample room while they are doing this work; and do not drive through these areas until the work is complete. During the seal coating processes there will be hot emulsion placed on the street surface. Traffic lanes will be restricted during the chip seal processes. Traffic can drive on the chip sealed areas once the chips are placed and rolled.

Heads up drivers, roads will be down to one lane at times so please just be extra patient and allow more time.
