City Councilmembers will be asked to approve spending $2,372,500 in DMC funding for the project along 2nd St. Southwest, between 7th and 11th Avenues.
The location slated for development is between downtown Rochester and St. Mary’s Hospital. Plans for the project call for constructing a market-rate 133 unit residential building, according to the city council’s meeting agenda item.
The plan includes a four-unit for-sale workforce condominiums.
City documents indicate each condo unit will be sold to individuals who meet income requirements in the form of a $200,000 mortgage.
A $124,500 Minnesota Housing Finance Authority Grant will be relied upon to cover the remainder of the purchase, the agenda item says.
The proposal also calls for a pedestrian-only walkway running north and south between 2nd St. and 1st St. Southwest. A small park along the walkway is also included in the proposal.
