Injury Crash Slows Traffic on Southeast Minnesota Highway
Elgin, MN (KROC-AM News)- An injury crash slowed traffic on a southeast Minnesota highway over the weekend.
It happened around 11:20 Sunday morning. The State Patrol says three vehicles were involved.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 42 Wabasha County Rd. 25 just north of Elgin. A Jeep heading west on County Rd. 25 was traveling through the intersection when it was struck by a southbound SUV.
A second SUV at the intersection, that was stopped at the stop sign in the eastbound lane of County Rd. 25, was also struck during the collision.
19-year-old Katrina Marie Jirik of Edina was the lone passenger in the Jeep. She was evaluated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries then released.
The Jeep driver, identified as 20-year-old Nicholas Edward Sachs of Dublin, OH was not hurt. The SUV drivers, identified as 26-year-old Rose Camille Staloch of Elgin and 44-year-old Scot William Engler of Elgin, were also unharmed.
Alcohol was not involved in the crash and everyone was buckled up, the report says. The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office asked motorists to avoid the intersection. First responders were at the scene for about an hour.
Plainview Ambulance, Plainview Fire Department and the Plainview Police Department also joined the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol at the scene.
