Charges: Rochester Man Sexually Abused Child Nightly for Months

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Attorney’s Office filed charges last week against a Rochester man who’s accused of sexually abusing a child on a nightly basis for several months.

The charges allege the abuse began at a Rochester residence in July of 2020 and continued through October of 2021 when the victim was under the age of 10. An investigation into the reported abuse began last June.

The criminal complaint says a woman tasked with caring for the child heard him crying in the night and went into his room to tickle him in an attempt to lighten his mood.

The victim, described as a boy, told the woman and later Rochester Police that 41-year-old Randy James Langworthy would also tickle him then inappropriately touch him on a nightly basis. The victim also said Langworthy would instruct him to watch sexually explicit videos in private then come into his room and touch him, according to the complaint.

The child said Langworthy threatened to touch the victim’s younger sister if the victim did not let Langworthy into the room. The victim told his mother about Langworthy’s alleged actions and the mother told her son to avoid Langworthy, the charges say.

The child said Langworthy would still touch him 1-2 times per week after he informed his mother of the alleged abuse, according to the court document.

Langworthy is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He’s due to make his first court appearance next month.
