La Crosse, WI (KROC AM News) - Rochester experienced its warmest day in six months Monday.

The city’s official high temperature was 67 degrees. The last time it was that warm at the airport was Oct 21.

Monday’s high temp was also above average for a change and it came just one week after a snowstorm hit the region. The National Weather Service says this tied with 1965 for the 4th latest date for the first 60-degree temperature during a calendar year.

But with the sudden warmth comes high water concerns along stretches of the Mississippi in southern Minnesota because of rapid runoff from melting snow.

At this point, it looks like minor flooding is expected with Wabasha facing the biggest problem.

The National Weather Service says the Mississippi is expected to rise above flood stage Thursday morning in Wabasha and climb to 13 1/2 feet by Monday morning. If so, high water could affect the railroad underpass on Highway 60 and some businesses near the river may be flooded.

Other river cities are also being told to expect problems caused by the high water.
