The county Public Works Dept says as a result, traffic will be limited to one lane with an alternating signal during the project involving Energy Parkway NE (formerly Silver Creek Road).

The department says about 8,000 vehicles use the road every week, many of them waste haulers. The department those traveling to the county sites should expect significant delays. This project is expected to take three to four weeks. Facilities will maintain their normal hours; however, residents are encouraged to delay their visits until the project has finished.

The department says if a visit cannot be delayed, the following tips will help reduce traffic congestion:

  • Plan a visit during the middle of the week when traffic is lighter.
  • Bring cash or check to pay for items with a fee; the facilities cannot currently accept credit cards and no change can be given.
  • Having the correct amount of cash (or check), will reduce traffic by preventing duplicate trips to a facility.
  • Bring a variety of bill sizes.
