“Brutal Year” Continues: Popular Minnesota Brewery Announces Closure Date
"Brutal" is one word to describe the past year for breweries in the state of Minnesota. Several closings were reported in 2025 for some of the favorites throughout the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Hoops Brewing in Duluth and Waconia Brewing Company in Waconia were some of the latest closing announcements in the state. Back in 2025, the list was pretty lengthy and included Invictus Brewing Co., Schram Haus Brewery, LynLake Brewery, Wild Mind Ales, Alloy Brewing, Mankato Brewery, and Foremost Brewing Cooperative.
Unfortunately, we are continuing to see additional craft breweries announce that they are shuttering for good - including one in Southeast Minnesota.

Reasons Why Karst Brewing In Southeast Minnesota Is Closing
Karst Brewing, which opened up back in 2017, made an announcement back in April that they were closing its location this spring. According to KTTC, the reason behind this decision is due to rising costs, additional competition in the area, and the trend of people consuming less alcohol.
