Man Gets Jail Time in Winona Child Torture Case
Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - One of the two men charged in a southeastern Minnesota child torture case has been handed a jail sentence.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jalil Wilson of La Crosse, along with another La Crosse man and a Winona woman, was accused of putting a young child through a horrifying ordeal last summer. He was charged with a felony count of child torture but later entered into a plea agreement and admitted to an amended charge of false imprisonment.
Disturbing Videos Shared With Coworkers
Wilson and the others were charged after police were called to a Winona business last July and spoke with coworkers of 21-year-old Joseline Puente Gunderson. They told police that Gunderson had shown them a video depicting a child with duct tape wrapped around his wrists and ankles. The coworkers stated that Gunderson offered to share the video with them, thinking they would find it funny.
Investigators Obtained Videos From Snapchat
Court records say Winona police then spoke with Gunderson, who confirmed recording the videos on Snapchat and showing them to her coworkers. She also indicated that she had deleted the videos, but investigators were able to obtain them from Snapchat using a search warrant.
Child Terrified by Man Wearing Clown Mask
According to court documents, one of the videos shows the child sitting in a reclining chair, and others show him being removed from a closet. The boy is bound with duct tape and is seen screaming, kicking, and flailing while a man covered in a throw blanket and wearing a “full-faced, scary/creepy, Halloween-type mask” terrifies him.
The criminal complaint against Wilson alleged that he was the person wearing the mask and is seen in the videos crawling out of the closet toward the victim and dragging the boy by his feet.

Jail and Probation
Wilson has been sentenced to 45 days in jail and has been placed on probation for three years.
One Other Defendant Sentenced in Case
Gunderson, who also earlier pleaded guilty to a false imprisonment charge in the case, was sentenced in February to three years of probation. She was also granted a stay of adjudication, which means her conviction could be erased from her criminal record if she successfully completes probation.
Third Defendant Awaiting Trial
The third defendant in the case, 26-year-old Atzavesta Raymon Williams, is charged with child torture. The criminal complaint alleges he was the person who bound the young victim with duct tape and participated in terrifying the child. He is currently scheduled to appear in court for an evidentiary hearing next month.
