Jury Acquits On Homicide Charge In Fatal Bar Shooting
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — A jury in St. Louis County has acquitted a man on a homicide charge in a fatal shooting at a Duluth bar.
Aaron Humphreys was charged with intentional second-degree murder in the October 2016 shooting death of Eric Burns at the front door of Bedrock Bar. Jurors, however, convicted Humphreys of possessing a firearm and fifth-degree assault Thursday.
Humphreys admitted he had a gun the night of the shooting, despite a criminal history that prevented him from possessing a firearm. Prosecutors contended Humphreys shot Burns without justification. But, Humphreys claimed he saw another man fire the fatal shot from outside the bar.
