Large Scale Vaccination Site to Open in Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota's third large-scale and permanent community vaccination site will soon open in Rochester.
Governor Tim Walz made the announcement today but did not identify its location. He says it will have the capacity to serve 1,500 Minnesotans 65 years and older in its first week of operation.
The governor has also announced an expansion of vaccine availability through the federal government's Retail Pharmacy Program. Walmart and Thrifty White Pharmacies have been added to the program in Minnesota. Walz says the expansion will make more than 16,000 doses of vaccine available in the state. His administration is also reallocating about 8000 doses to 40 Walgreens locations in Minnesota.
Today, the Minnesota Department of Health reported only 564 new COVID-19 cases throughout the state. That included the 26 new infections found in Olmsted County. The daily testing total was almost 17,900 and the daily testing positivity rate was about 3.1 percent.
