Man Killed By Vehicle Near New Prague

NEW PRAGUE, Minn. (AP) — A man going outside to get his mail was struck and killed by a car just outside of New Prague.

The Le Sueur  County Sheriff's Office identifies the victim as 79-year-old Joseph Tikalsky. He was dead when first responders arrived Wednesday morning.

The Free Press of Mankato reports a 47-year-old New Prague woman was driving on a county road when her vehicle struck Tikalsky.

Authorities say it was dark and rainy at the time, but distracted driving also may have been a factor.

The sheriff's office and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating.
