
Taser Deployed to Subdue Knife-Wielding Man at Rochester Park
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Law enforcement deployed a taser to subdue a knife-wielding man at a Rochester park over the weekend.

That’s according to Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson.
Officers responded to the park on the report of someone waving a knife by a playground around 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

Police Deploy Taser to Subdue Man With Knife at Manor Park in Rochester, MN
The call came from Manor Park at 4238 Manor Park Dr Northwest. Responding officers found a man at the park matching the suspect’s description.
The man withdrew a knife from his waistband, said he wanted to die and that he wanted the officers to shoot him, Grayson said.

Officers offered to get the man help and tried to de-escalate the situation but the man continued to refuse instructions from police to drop the knife, the police report says.
The subject disobeyed commands and walked towards officers while holding the knife in his hand. Police responded by deploying a taser and were able to detain the individual, Grayson said.
A Mayo Clinic Ambulance crew arrived at the scene to treat the man. He was then transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for further medical attention and mental health care, according to police.
His name has not been released. No other injuries were reported.
