Mayo Clinic today announced work will begin next year on another expansion involving the Mary Brigh East Building on the St. Mary’s Hospital campus.The latest announcement calls for the addition of five floors on top of the four floors now under construction that are part of a surgery expansion project at the building. That portion of the project is nearing completion.

Three of the additional floors will include a total of 69 private rooms. The new patient rooms will allow the hospital to convert 73 inpatient beds in the St. Joseph Building to staff-related space. Mayo will also begin renovating the third floor of the Domitilla Building. Mayo says both projects should be completed in 2016. The total cost for both projects is $72.1 million.
