The new commission that will oversee the operations of the Mayo Civic Center from now on held its inaugural meeting today.  The seven member commission was appointed by Mayor Ardell Brede and approved by the City Council last month and plans to meet on a monthly basis.  The group reached a consensus that its overall priority the next few months will be to work hard to secure state funds for the planned expansion and renovation of the civic center.  Civic Center Director Donna Drews also advised the commission of the need to emphasize to the public the business and revenue that the facility generates rather than its annual operating deficit.  The group selected member John Beltz to serve as its first president.  He is vice president of the local Titan Development firm.    The commission will meet next week with the consultant
