Minneapolis Man Sentenced For Armed Bank Robberies, Firearm Violations
St. Paul, Minnesota (KROC-AM News) - A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to federal prison for two armed bank robberies in the Twin Cities and multiple firearm violations.
The first robbery took place in February 2018. Prosecutors said that 34-year-old Samuel Brantley, and two accomplices, entered a bank in White Bear Lake pointing guns at the tellers and demanding money. Brantley and his accomplices stole around $9,800.
The second robbery took place in May 2018. Brantley, and an accomplice, entered a bank in Brooklyn Center again pointing guns at the tellers and demanding money. The two stole around $88,600. A third accomplice was waiting in a getaway car and they fled.
Later that same month, prosecutors said following a shooting incident near Brantley’s residence, Brantley's acquaintance, identified as ‘the Shooter’, handed off two guns to Brantley. The following morning, Brantly met the Shooter at a restaurant to return the two firearms. The Shooter told Brantley that he had used the firearms to shoot a man the night before.
Brantley pleaded guilty to two counts of bank robbery, one count of carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, one count of conspiracy to commit armed bank robbery, and one count of disposing of a firearm to a felon in October 2020.
He was sentenced to 92 months, more than seven years, Friday.
