Minnesota American Legion Protests Restaurant Restrictions
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota American Legion has joined the protests against the decision by Governor Tim Walz to limit bars and restaurants to outdoor seating when they are allowed to reopen on June 1st.
An open letter from the organization, which represents over 66,000 American Legion veterans in 550 Minnesota communities, expresses disappointment in the governor's decision and contends the restrictions put in place by his order are not suited for the over 300 restaurants and bars operated by American Legion posts in Minnesota. State Legion Commander Mark Dvorak goes on to say they believe they can open safely and set "highest standards of compliance with social distancing, sanitation, and risk mitigation."
The letter closes out by thanking Walz for his service to the nation and state but then states his fellow veterans are counting on him to "do the right thing for Minnesota."
