Minnesota Budget Surplus Lowered to $900 Million
St Paul, MN (KROC AM News) - It appears Minnesota’s economy continues to downshift to a lower gear.
The state legislature found out Friday the projected budget surplus has been lowered by 25 percent.
The legislature was told in December it may have a $1.2 billion budget surplus to work with during the upcoming legislative session. A new revenue forecast projects a surplus of $900 million by the end of the current budget period.
Governor Dayton and members of the state House and Senate have been discussing various proposals to spend the extra money in recent months. Some of their proposals may need an overhaul as a result of the lower projection.
